The Renault Group announced on Tuesday (08/12) that it will start manufacturing the Duster utility in Brazil in 2011, more precisely at its factory located in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. The current model, for the time being, is manufactured only by the Romanian subsidiary to serve the European market.

The Duster is developed on the same platform as Sandero, Logan and Nissan Livina , and comes to fight with the Ford Ecosport , as well as a future launch of GM based on the Agile family.

The utility is equipped with 1.6 16V engine with 110 hp of gasoline power. Renault claims that two diesel versions will also be available, and in Brazil, the 1.6 8V flex engine. The gearbox is sequential with six gears. The engine and transmission set is the result of the Renault-Nissan alliance.

The passion of Ferdinand Piëch, chairman of Volkswagen, for motorcycles is no secret to anyone. So much so that, at age 72, Piëch owns a Ducati machine and continues to drive. Recent statements from the Austrian show that his old dream of taking Volks to produce motorcycles is still alive. Thus, the Ducati would be one of the possibilities for the realization of the project.

In 1985, when the Italian manufacturer went through financial difficulties, Piëch tried to negotiate with Ducati, but nothing was agreed. But the issue has surfaced in Europe and Volkswagen also has talks with Suzuki for a possible merger with the Japanese motorcycle maker.

Piëch is grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, designer of the Beetle, and is famous for conquering the transactions in favor of the Volks. Example of this were the control acquisitions of Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley, Audi and Seat. Starting in the world of motorcycles, this would be a way for Volkswagen to face forward one of its biggest rivals, BMW, traditional manufacturers of motorcycles and automobiles.

The Brawn GP had one of the most brilliant passages of an F1 team . Of course not compared to other years and years in the category, such as Ferrari, McLarenand Willians , but I’m talking about a newcomer, who was in a hurry and had everything to be the joke of the year, but no, swallowed the favorites with a consistent and convincing car and soon in its first year, and now only one, took the world of constructors, made of Jenson Button the world champion and also the third place with Brazilian Rubens Barrichello.

So, now Brawn is just going to be part of the story, as it was bought this week by Mercedes-Benz and the new team will now be called the Mercedes-Benz GP . The announcement was made on Monday by the company’s president, Dieter Zetsche, at a press conference in Frankfurt, Germany. The automaker also confirmed the sale of shares held by McLaren, ending its command over the English team. On the other hand, it guaranteed the supply of engines for the team until 2015.

Brawn had 75.1% of its shares bought by Mercedes – 45.1% directly by the company, with the remaining 30% held by Abu Dhabi’s Aabar investment group, which owns a minority share of the company’s controlling shareholder. Next year, the cars will win the traditional silver paint and the symbol of the three-pointed star.
